# Quality Control in Chinese Bag Factories — What Actually Happens Before Your Order Ships
I often tell my clients: "You can find a cheaper price, but you can't find a cheaper mistake."
In the bag industry, a "small" mistake—like a zipper that catches or a handle with weak stitching—doesn't just hurt one sale. It kills your entire brand reputation. As a factory owner in Dongguan, I’ve seen how easy it is for quality to slip if you don’t have a rigid system.
Today, I’m taking you behind the scenes of our factory floor to show you exactly how we prevent those "cheaper mistakes" before they ever reach your warehouse.
## The 4-Stage QC Pipeline at Our Factory
We don’t treat Quality Control (QC) as a final step. We treat it as the heartbeat of the production line.
### 1. Raw Material IQC (Incoming Quality Control)
Before we cut a single inch of fabric, we test it.
- **The Rub Test**: We check if the color bleeds onto white clothing.
- **The Hardware Test**: We open and close zippers 50+ times to ensure zero "snagging."
- **Thickness Check**: We use digital calipers to ensure the fabric matches the 1200D or 1680D nylon spec you paid for.
If the material doesn't pass, it doesn't enter the production area. Period.
### 2. IPQC (In-Process Quality Control)
This is where 80% of problems are solved. Every 5 sewing stations on our floor, we have a specialized inspector.
- They check the **Stitch Density** (usually 6-8 stitches per inch for premium bags).
- They ensure the **Logo Alignment** is centered within 1mm.
By catching a crooked seam at station #5, we don't waste time finishing a bad bag at station #20.
### 3. FQC (Final Quality Control)
Once the bag is "finished," it undergoes a functional stress test.
- **Load Test**: We fill the bag with weights (e.g., 10kg for a laptop bag) and hang it for 24 hours to test strap integrity.
- **Visual Sweep**: We remove every loose thread and check for glue residue or dust.
### 4. Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI)
Before packing into master cartons, we perform a random check based on AQL 2.5/4.0 standards. If even one bag in this random pull has a "Major" defect, the entire batch is sent back for 100% re-inspection.
## Common Quality "Nightmares" and How We Avoid Them
- **Zipper Failure**: We only use SBS or YKK zippers for our premium lines. No "no-name" hardware.
- **Loose Threads**: We use a specialized thread-burning process and a final manual trim.
- **Color Variance**: We use light boxes (D65 standard) to ensure the color in the factory looks exactly like the color in your design.
- **Handle Detachment**: We use reinforced "X-box" stitching at every handle attachment point. We sew *into* the structural webbing, not just the surface fabric.
## How You Can Inspect Your Order Remotely
You don't have to be in Dongguan to verify quality. I actually encourage my clients to be "annoyingly" thorough:
1. **Video Verification**: Ask me for a 10-minute WhatsApp video call. I'll walk to the production line, pick a random bag, and show you the stitching and zippers live.
2. **Third-Party Inspection**: We welcome agencies like V-Trust or QIMA. A confident factory never says no to an outside auditor.
3. **Golden Sample Comparison**: I always suggest you keep one approved sample at your office. When the bulk order arrives, compare them side-by-side.
## Driulug’s Quality Commitment
We aren't perfect, but we are accountable.
- **Standard**: We follow AQL 2.5 for major defects and AQL 4.0 for minor defects.
- **After-Sales Policy**: If a batch has a structural defect (e.g., faulty stitching that breaks within the first 3 months of use), we provide a **1:1 replacement** or a credit for your next order.
- **Replenishment**: For long-term partners, we keep a "safety stock" of your specific materials so we can rush a replenishment order if you sell out faster than expected.
**Quality isn't a cost; it's an investment.** When you work with a factory that takes QC seriously, you're not just buying a bag—you're buying peace of mind.
